Sequel to 'The Best Man' in the works?

Twelve years after critics found it to be totally decent (and refreshingly stereotype-free) and audiences made it a solid $34M box office hit, the 1999 Taye Diggs vehicle Best Man will be getting a sequel! So if you’ve been holding your breath to find out what happens after interpersonal secrets and scandals among friends come to a head on one dramarama-filled wedding day, you’re in luck. Writer-director Malcolm D. Lee is set to script and helm Best Man 2 for Universal, and reportedly got the idea after a cast reunion dinner; take that as good indication that the likes of Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Nathan, and Nia Long might reprise their characters.

That Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris Have Joined THE EXPENDABLES 2

Earlier in the week, we learned from co-star Jason Statham that The Expendables 2 is set to begin filming in Bulgaria in a couple of weeks. At that time, he confirmed reports that both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis would take on substantial roles in the pic but stopped short of confirming other rumored names such as Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. Tonight, some of those rumors can be put to rest as Sly Stallone has confirmed that both Norris and Van Damme will be in the film.

For a little more, including two other A-list names that may be joining the fun, hit the jump. The Expendables 2 is set to hit theaters on August 17th, 2012.
Stallone confirmed that both Norris and Van Damme have joined The Expendables 2 in an interview with EW. While in-depth details regarding their roles are still underwraps, Stallone did confirm that:

“We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one.”

I have to be honest, the opportunity to watch Stallone and Van Damme go head-to-head is probably too good for me to pass up. In fact, it’s going to take negative reviews that would make Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star blush for me to stay away from The Expendables 2. But wait, there’s potentially more. Later in the interview, the star also mentioned that the pic may be landing two other previously rumored names: Nicolas Cage and John Travolta, saying:

“We’ve got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage. We’re trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot…[As for Travolta's inclusion] It’s possible. The one thing I’ve learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling. It’s not financial. It’s just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. It’s a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter.”

Ultimately, it’s probably true that Stallone’s comments regarding Cage and Travolta’s potential inclusion doesn’t really change things much. They were rumored before and now they’re rumored plus, perhaps? Regardless, as I stated above, Norris and especially Van Damme’s casting makes The Expendables 2 a must see for me

9 Biggest flops of 2011

Cowboys & Aliens
Directed by Jon Favreau and featuring James Bond star Daniel Craig, the $163 million-budgeted movie mixed two genres: Westerns and alien pics. Unfortunately, audiences didn’t embrace the result. From Universal and DreamWorks, Cowboys & Aliens has cumed only $129 million to date, including $93.5 million domestically and $35.5 million overseas (where it still has some territories yet to open).

Larry Crowne
Directed by and starring Tom Hanks (opposite Julia Roberts), Larry Crowne was intended to please adult audiences put off by summer popcorn fare. But the Universal film, fully financed by Vendome Films, topped out at $52.4 million worldwide, including only $35.6 million domestically.

Green Lantern
The Ryan Reynolds superhero pic cost a pricey $200 million to produce, yet has only earned $206.1 million worldwide. In North America, the Warner Bros. film topped out at $116 million, while it’s cumed $90.1 million to date at the international box office. Like Cowboys, it hasn’t fully rolled out overseas.

Priest
The Paul Bettany action pic, based on the Korean graphic novel, was the most expensive movie ever produced by Sony’s Screen Gems, sporting a price tag north of $60 million. It’s only earned $76.6 million worldwide, including $29.1 million in North America, and $47.4 million offshore.

The Change-Up
The Jason Bateman-Ryan Reynolds pic has earned only $34.5 million to date domestically, ending a dazzling winning streak for R-rated comedies. Universal hasn’t yet begun rolling out the movie in major foreign territories.

Conan the Barbarian
The reboot cost north of $70 million to make but is off to a poor start, grossing only $16.6 million domestically in its first 10 days, and $5.5 million in its initial foreign run. The film was fully financed by NuImage/Millennium, and is being distributed by Lionsgate.

Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer
The family film failed to parlay the success of the best-selling kids’ book series into big box office grosses. The $20 million film, financed independently and distributed by Relativity, grossed $15 million.

Fright Night
The vampire pic isn’t proving to have much bite, earning $14.3 million in its first 10 days (the movie was released Aug. 19). The Colin Farrell-Anton Yelchin starrer won’t necessarily be a big financial hit, since it cost $30 million to make, but DreamWorks and Disney had higher hopes.

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie
Considering how avid Gleek fans are, Fox Television was taken aback at the film’s poor showing at the box office. Opening on Aug. 12, the concert pic has grossed $14.6 million worldwide, including $11.7 million in North America.

Josh Brolin Locked In For Oldboy Remake

Josh Brolin's name has been linked to the film for a while now, but Josh Brolin has signed on the dotted line to star in Spike Lee’s planned remake of Oldboy.

I Am Legend writer Mark Protosevich adapted the current script from Park Chan-Wook’s 2004 original. Brolin will feature as a man who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held by a mystery villain in solitary confinement for 15 years without knowing why. But when he’s released and handed the tools to get revenge on those who kept him a prisoner, he soon learns that it’s all part of a bigger plan. And, naturally, violence ensues…

Lee is taking over from Steven Spielberg, who originally nabbed the rights to remake the movie in 2008 and planned to have Will Smith in the lead. Now, though, Brolin will be the main man and there’s apparently an offer out to Christian Bale to play the villain, though he’s yet to make his mind up about any post-Dark Knight Rises work.

Brolin’s in for a busy time over the next few months: he’s about to start work on Gangster Squad before finding time for Oldboy and then Jason Reitman’s next planned movie, Labor Day, which sees him playing a fugitive on the run who hides out with Kate Winslet. He’ll next be seen in Men in Black 3, which finally comes out next May.

'A Good Old Fashioned Orgy' Trailer

Sudeikis seems to be setting his sights on taking down each and every social taboo.

The "Saturday Night Live" veteran cheated on his wife in "Hall Pass" and conspired to commit triple homicide in "Horrible Bosses," and in his next flick, he'll do his best to stage a wild night of group sex. Consider us sold.

In "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy," Sudeikis plays a 30-year old man-child named Eric who spends his 20s partying with his friends at his Hamptons house every summer weekend. When his parents decide to sell it, they make certain they go out with a bang -- literally -- planning a huge orgy.

In the process, the film tackles the difficulties of growing up and moving on, while still maintaining loyalty to your lifelong friends and the fun that always brought you together. But, in this newly released trailer, we mostly get wild flashbacks, sex jokes, Sudeikis charm and Lake Bell bringing the awkward. Which is way okay.

Co-starring Will Forte, Leslie Bibb, Tyler Labine, Martin Starr, Lucy Punch and more, the film hits theaters in November.

Kevin Costner in Talks to Join Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

Kevin Costner is negotiating to play a sadistic bad guy in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," an individual close to the project confirmed.
He's in talks for the role of Ace Woody, the sort of nasty that Tarantino specializes in.

The script focuses on a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter (to be played by Christoph Waltz). He buys a slave (Jamie Foxx) who can identify a man the bounty hunter is looking for.
The bounty hunter and the slave become friendly and set out to rescue the slave's wife from the vicious Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio is in that role). Woody is one of Candie's henchmen.

Tarantino wrote and is directing the film.

Costner recently been in a run of smaller, quieter dramas like The Company Men and Swing Vote, but it looks like Kevin Costner really is stepping his career back up. He’s already getting set to play Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel....

Dark Knight: Rises 1st poster

"The Dark Knight Rises" doesn't come to theaters until next summer, but the first official poster for the highly anticipated flick hit the Internet TODAY.

Although the image is simple: amongst an aerial shot of dark and crumbling Gotham City buildings is the white outline of a bat.

Batman fans have been debating what exactly the picture means. Some think it represents "the hole" left by the masked crusader, according to NME.

Christian Bale reprises the role of Batman for the third time. Also starring in the Christopher Nolan-directed "The Dark Knight Rises" are Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, who play villains Catwoman and Bane respectively.

It began filming in May in India and is expected to wrap up in November in Pittsburgh. The release date is July 20, 2012.

The Oscar winner will play the titular character, a freed slave who tries to rescue his long-lost love, Broomhilda, from a plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), with the help of a German bounty hunter, who will be played by Inglourious Basterds' Christoph Waltz. Fellow Tarantino alum Samuel L. Jackson also stars as Candie's slave, Stephen, while Kerry Washington is in talks to play Broomhilda.

"I think, just to be able to work with Quentin Tarantino and Samuel Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and to be able to tell a story that needs to be told," Foxx told CNN, explaining why he took the role. "If you're a fan of, I mean, you know — it's just amazing. It should be an amazing thing."

Tarantino originally offered the lead role to Will Smith, who turned it down. He then met with Idris Elba, Terrence Howard and Chris Tucker before casting Foxx, according to Variety.

Mark Wahlberg Confirms ‘The Fighter 2′

Today we have a video clip from the upcoming Spike TV Guys Choice Awards, where The Fighter won an award for “Guy Movie of the Year”. Taking to the stage with Russell and the real life Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund (Christian Bale’s character), Wahlberg used the platform as an appropriate launch pad to announce The Fighter sequel:

“We left out the Aturo Gatti fights for a reason…Because that’s for ‘Fighter 2′. We’re not going to do ‘Fighter’ 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, but we’re gonna do 2. We’re gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy.”

Mark Wahlberg Thanks The Troops, Talks "The Fighter 2" Plans
Tags: Mark Wahlberg Thanks The Troops, Talks "The Fighter 2" Plans

The Fighter was one of the best movies of 2010, and also one of most (pleasantly) surprising. Many expected a traditional sports drama biopic, but instead, quirky auteur David O. Russell delivered a darkly funny look at the life and rise of middleweight boxer “Irish” Micky Ward to the status of champion in the early 2000s.

However, boxing fans know that Micky’s rise to champion was only the beginning of his story – which is why Fighter star Mark Wahlberg let it be known early this past spring that The Fighter 2 was in the works.

Since that initial reveal by Wahlberg, The Fighter 2 has been gradually veering into the fast-track. First we learned that Wahlberg was pushing the project ahead, with plans to reprise his role as Ward; soon after that, we learned that David O. Russell was interested in at least writing the project (if not returning to direct).

Leading into Season 4's highly anticipated premiere, fans will have a chance to catch up on Breaking Bad, as all episodes from season three will be available On Demand beginning Mon., Jun. 20 through Sun., Jul. 17. In addition, AMC will air every episode from seasons one through three in late night, beginning Tue., Jul. 5. Breaking Bad is produced by High Bridge and Gran Via Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television for AMC.

Robert Redford Returns to Baseball in the Branch Rickey Biopic

You know who apparently doesn’t get enough credit in Jackie Robinson’s story about breaking the color barrier in baseball? White guy Branch Rickey. Because it’s not simply enough to give credit to an African-American who risked his life to play the great American pastime, Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale) will write and direct a biopic about Rickey, an executive who made the brave decision to sign Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1945. 24 Frames reports that Robert Redford who starred in the 1984 baseball drama The Natural, will play Rickey in a role I’m fairly certain will be preachy and simplistic.

Hit the jump for more on Redford’s participation and why this project makes me cringe.

Rather than focus on Robinson’s story, Helgeland’s movie will look at the “complex” relationship between Rickey and Robinson, and how Rickey signed the famous athlete for reasons both economic and idealistic. Says Redford of the story:

“No one really knows the Rickey part, the political maneuvers and the partnership they had to share. It’s the story underneath the story you thought you knew.”

Because if there’s a group of people who really don’t get their stories told any more, it’s rich white guys. I will lay 10-to-1 odds that the big message of the movie is: “Racism is bad.” Of course, preachy has become Redford’s trademark as seen in his recent films Lions for Lambs and the upcoming The Conspirator. Basically, this movie just sounds like Helgeland and Redford trying to make a Jackie Robinson movie through the lens of white privilege. Hooray.

Maggie Grace Officially Abducted For 'Taken 2'

Though plot details are currently top secret on "Taken 2," it's probably a good guess that Maggie Grace will once again be the cause of or at least involved in another kidnapping drama of some sort now that she's officially signed on for the sequel, according to Deadline.

In the original "Taken," Maggie was kidnapped by sex slave traders, which caused Liam Neeson, who played her dad, to punch, torture and/or kill every last person in France. Good thing he got her back alive, otherwise Liam may've sunk the entire country into the sea.
Liam is apparently back for "Taken 2" as well, after some short-lived nonsense involving producer Luc Besson possibly re-casting the role to accommodate Neeson's desire for a vacation (sleep when you're dead, Irish!).

Olivier Megaton, who directed Jason Statham's third "Transporter" adventure, looks to be on board to direct.

Our guess for the plot of "Taken 2?" Liam gets kidnapped this time, and Maggie is forced to punch, torture and/or kill every person in whatever country he's being held. We'd watch that, and so would you.

Meanwhile, Maggie Grace recently wrapped "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," in which she plays Irina. Part 1 of the two-part "Twilight" wrap-up opens Nov. 18, 2011, which will (hopefully) be here before you know it.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie coming in 2013?

This week gave us big news stories for three different DC Comics movies. The biggest story of the week was the revelation from Warner Bros' new studio boss Jeff Robinov that the studio plans on releasing a live action Justice League movie in 2013. Back in 2007/2008, the studio was nearing production of a Justice League movie that would have been directed by George Miller (Mad Max, Happy Feet), but it was shelved because of the WGA strike. Warner Bros' plans for Justice League appear to include at least five of DC Comics' most popular superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash. It's not yet known if other Justice League members like Green Arrow, The Atom, Aquaman, Hawkman and Martian Manhunter might also be included. Justice League is being seen as a potential launching pad movie for The Flash and Wonder Woman movies of their own. But the Justice League movie will not connect directly to Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, or Zack Snyder's Superman movie coming in late 2012. For Justice League, a new Batman and Superman will be introduced. What is not yet known is whether this will also apply to Green Lantern, or whether Ryan Reynolds might reprise his role in Justice League as well. Speaking of Green Lantern, we learned this week that Michael Clarke Duncan will be providing the voice of the gargantuan Lantern Kilowog, and that Geoffrey Rush will be voicing the bird-like Lantern Tomar-Re.

Have you been waiting for you favorite HBO series to come back? Well HBO has just announced its hot summer lineup.

* True Blood will return for Season 4 with 12 episodes starting Sunday, June 29th at 9pm.

* The 8th Season of Curb Your Enthusiasm will kick off Sunday, July 10th at 10pm.

* And for all you Entourage fans, its final season will begin Sunday, July 24th at 10:30pm.

Are you excited as I am? HBO is going to have a sizzling summer with all these new episodes. I am a True Blood fan myself, and hopefully this season is better then the last. I hear that this season will include witches. For those who read "The Sookie Stackhouse Series," (I've only read the first two novel) then you pretty much know what will be in stored for our Sookie. Vampires? Hot! Werewolves? Cool. Fairies? What? Witches? Ughh.... Let's see how they intertwine all these fantasy characters and still have a sense of "realism."

Amy Adams to play Lois Lane in Superman Reboot

Amy Adams has nabbed the role of Lois Lane in director Zack Snyder’s reboot of Superman. “Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today,” said Snyder in the official Warner Bros. statement. “Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”

The three time Oscar-nominated Adams will join Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Henry Cavill in the Warner Bros. film.

New Poster debut for 'The Hangover 2'

Warner Bros. to Reboot BATMAN after THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.....

.....Christopher Nolan to Remain on as Producer.

Christopher Nolan has publicly stated that The Dark Knight Rises will be his final Batman film, and Warner Bros. is already looking ahead to the future of the franchise. As we reported last night, the studio is currently planning a Justice League movie for 2013 and Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov tells Hero Complex that scripts are being written for Flash and Wonder Woman (the Wonder Woman project would exist separately from the upcoming NBC show). But most intriguing is what the studio plans to do with its marquee superhero, Batman:

“We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman…” says Robinov. “Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”

Since Nolan said TDKR would be his last Batman film, I already assumed that Warner Bros. would reboot the franchise. However, I hope that they don’t devote yet another film to Batman’s origin story. We all know how Bruce Wayne became Batman.
I’m a little worried about keeping Nolan and Thomas on as producers. I’m hoping that they’ll be on board simply to give the reboot some cred and leave the creative decisions to a new director and his or her team. Nolan has recast the Batman world in a “realistic” setting and that’s a perfectly valid take that’s had both positive and negative repercussions. But I think a trilogy of Batman films done in that style is enough and it’s time to see what a new director can bring to the table.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Alberto Falcone in the final Batman "The Dark Knight Rises."

Late Friday night, Warner Bros. confirmed what had been rumored for months: that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would become the second "Inception" star to appear in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises." What we didn't know then, and what broke over the weekend, is who Gordon-Levitt is playing: According to Variety, he's going to be Alberto Falcone, the son of crime lord Carmine Falcone, portrayed in "Batman Begins" by Tom Wilkinson.

Levitt's casting gives the following confirmed actors and characters:

*** Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

*** Michael Caine as Alfred.

*** Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon.

*** Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.

*** Tom Hardy as Bane.

*** Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

*** Juno Temple as "street-smart Gotham gal."

*** Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Alberto Falcone.

There are still rumors out there about Marion Cotilliard, and you can probably count on Cillian Murphy having a cameo as Scarecrow again, because why not?

That's a lot of characters, and a lot of bad guys. We've already told you about Catwoman and Bane, but who, exactly, is Alberto Falcone?

Falcone is not a common character in the Batman DC Universe; according to the DC Wiki, he only appears in two sets of comics. But one of those -- and the one Nolan is likely drawing from -- is one called "The Long Halloween."

This is one of the more famous Batman comics, one that Nolan cites as one of his favorites and the one he (sort of) borrowed the origin story for Harvey Dent in "The Dark Knight." It's not the exact same origin story, so if you read "The Long Halloween" before seeing "The Dark Knight," you wouldn't have had the story ruined for you ... but it's close enough that we feel obliged to give a big SPOILER WARNING before we tell you Alberto Falcone's storylilne in that comic.

OK, we good? So, here's Alberto Falcone's story:

During an otherwise peaceful time in Gotham, someone is murdering criminals. More specifically, members of the Carmine crime family. Carmine -- who was last seen at the end of "Batman Begins" jabbering insanely in his cell after being attacked by Scarecrow -- employs all kinds of maniacs to find out the identity of this killer, who goes by the name "Holiday." But Holiday kills them all, including Carmine's sister and, seemingly, Alberto Falcone, his son.

As it turns out, though, Holiday was Alberto all along; he's a Harvard-educated reverse-black-sheep of the Falcone family who committed the murders to break away from his demanding father. Alberto is a fancy-pants psychotic academic who, like so many fictional characters before him (including Bruce Wayne), is just trying to live up to his father's legacy.

Obviously, Nolan is going to take his own liberties with the character and the story, but that's who Alberto Falcone is, in the comics

First look of Adrianne Palicki as NBC's "Wonder Woman."

"David E. Kelley, the man behind the new "Wonder Woman" television series, has plenty to tell about getting involved with the project and how Adrianne Palicki chosen for the lead role. For starters, he initially said "No" to the project.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Kelley discussed how he ended up changing his mind and taking on “Wonder Woman."

“When I started thinking about all the complications and potential layers to this superhero, I just got more and more intrigued,” Kelly said. “It was also something I was a little bit afraid of. That’s good, too. Any writer should get out of his or her comfort zone, and this was way outside of mine.”

He eventually decided to write the script and decide what to do from there. DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. and Kelley himself all liked how the script came out, so “Wonder Woman” was a go.
At that point, all they needed was an actress who would play Diana Prince.

“She’s got to be strong, smart, emotionally accessible — and, oh yeah, an Amazon!” Kelley said of the character. He thought it would be a challenge to find an actress, but was impressed with Palicki right away.

“I just knew it. I had an instinctive feeling that this was her," he said of Pailcki, who recently made her debut in the Wonder Woman costume. "So then she read [for the part]. And she was. And she is.”
Along with Palicki, Elizabeth Hurley (Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) and Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride) have joined the cast. Hurley’s character runs a pharmaceutical company that is creating a drug that makes people stronger while Elwes plays the CEO of Diana’s company, Themyscira Industries."

What do you guys think of the new "modern" costume of Wonder woman? Or is it even modern at all lol. I don't understand why that new costume is so damn shiney. It looks like pleather instead of leather, if thats the look they were going for. As long as she has the dark hair with the tiara, and the corset and lasso, people will know she is Wonder Woman. I'm sure she will look better on television, and the editing will be spectacular.

Nina Dobrev/ Emmanuelle Chiquiri look like twins!

Emmanuelle Chriqui Exclusive Interview (Collider.com)

In ELEKTRA LUXX, the follow-up to writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez’s 2009 film Women in Trouble, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui plays Bambi, a sexy stripper who has gone on a getaway trip to Mexico with her best friend, Holly Rocket (Adrianne Palicki). While away, porn star Holly Rocket decides to finally get up the courage to tell Bambi how she really feels about her, truly shocking the unexpecting Bambi.

At the film’s press day, Emmanuelle Chriqui did this exclusive interview with Collider, where she talked about revisiting this character, how much she has enjoyed working with Adrianne Palicki, and how Sebastian Gutierrez is great to work with because he just innately understands her, as a person. She also talked about voicing a character on the ThunderCats reboot on Cartoon Network and the Tron: Uprising animated series (set to air on Disney XD in the summer of 2012, with a preview on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Tron: Legacy), her role on the upcoming Showtime series The Borgias, and what she’d like to see happen with her character on the last season of the HBO series Entourage. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

Question: Since this is the second time you’re taking on this role, how did you originally get involved with this and what was it about Bambi that made you want to play her?

EMMANUELLE CHRIQUI: I got introduced to Women in Trouble through Sebastian [Gutierrez] and Carla [Gugino], who are very dear friends of mine. When I read it, I just was floored. I had never played a role like this. It was the opportunity to sink my teeth into something, totally let loose and be crazy in a really controlled way because Bambi is actually not crazy. In Women in Trouble, you see her and she kind of looks crazy, with her little wig and her purple chaps, but she’s quite sensible, very smart and very efficient. There was just this great banter between Holly Rocket and Bambi that made me think, “Oh, I would love to do this.” It ended up being a great experience, working with Adrianne [Palicki], and then it continued into Elektra Luxx. I’m so happy.

When you knew that you would be revisiting this character, did you talk to Sebastian about aspects of Bambi that you’d like to explore this time around?

CHRIQUI: The thing that’s so amazing about Sebastian is that he already had that sense about it. He already knew that we had to show different aspects. Bambi is always so controlled that you want to see her be out of control, you want to see her flustered, and you want to see her at a loss and vulnerable because we don’t ever see her that way. And then, it puts Holly Rocket in this place of taking the bull by the horns, and you never see her do that either. It was just there, in the writing.

Was there anything that really surprised you about Bambi, this time around?

CHRIQUI: Yeah. I would say that, with the scene in the bathroom – as much as I could work the beats out in my head because that’s what we do – I never imagined that she’d be quite as flustered as she was. In the moment, it somehow works even more because you can see the potential of their relationship. She’s knocked so off kilter that you’re like, “Wait, maybe this was lurking underneath. Maybe she does have all this patience for Holly because she actually, subconsciously, totally loves her back, in that way. It’s so fun to explore a character that is flawed and has those vulnerable moments ‘cause that’s the thing that makes them human. That’s the point where people just go, “Oh, my god, I so get this person.”

Did it make it more comfortable for you to do some of these scenes, like dancing in a bikini and making out, because you already knew Adrianne and had that familiarity with her?

CHRIQUI: Oh, my god, totally. She’s my team player. We’re such a team together. It’s effortless, her and I. From the beginning, it just was right there. So, when I had to be in my bikini, doing my thing, she was so my cheerleader. She was like, “You go, girl! Shoot, you’re hot!” I was like, “Thank you! I need to hear that right now.” It wasn’t easy, but Adrianne and Sebastian made it easier. He has the ability of getting his women to do stuff that I don’t think, necessarily, we would trust someone else enough to do. That’s the thing about him. We’re all friends. We all know each other and we all respect each other and we’re all inspired by each other, and it actually makes it safe. Sexuality in Hollywood is a real fine line, between being cheesy, being gratuitous and actually just celebrating it.

What is it about Sebastian, as a director, that makes you work so well together?

CHRIQUI: I feel like Sebastian innately just understands me. I have another film with him, Girl Walks into a Bar, and the character I play is Teresa the Astonishing, and only Sebastian could have written that role for me because he knows me so well. Teresa is that stripper/dancer. When you first meet her, she’s spewing all this information. She’s another smart woman. The thing is, though, she’s also a total tomboy. It’s one of those things where, when I read that, I was like, “Oh, my god, that’s because Sebastian knows me.” He could access that. That makes for an interesting character. So, it’s about admiring him, as an artist, and then having that love and trust, as friends.

How challenging is it to do these really quick shoots? Is that something you enjoy, or do you wish you had a little bit more time to explore the character?

CHRIQUI: It’s perfect the way it is because I think we can also stand in our own way sometimes. I’m a very cerebral person and I like to do my homework and break it down. I like to feel like I did my due diligence. It’s a confidence factor for me, as an actor. But then, there’s something so liberating about just jumping in and knowing that I actually have a really solid instinct. I’m not going to be floundering because, with my instinct and Sebastian’s guidance, we’re totally fine. There’s really something thrilling about that. Sometimes I just want to get out of my head, and stop over-thinking and over-complicating, and just do it. When we have quick shoots like that, you get to. You get to just dive in and have fun, on every level.

How did you get involved with the Tron: Uprising animated series, and what do you enjoy about doing voice-over work?

CHRIQUI: Yeah, I suddenly have a budding career in voice-over work. I’m doing ThunderCats right now, and I did the pilot for Tron. It supposedly got picked up, but I have no idea when we’re going to be filming more. But, Tron was the first time I read a pilot for voice-over work where I was like, “I have to do this.” I love doing voice-over. It’s so fun. But, the audition process, obviously, isn’t the same. It was the first time where I was literally like, “Did I get it? Did we get feedback yet? I really love this part!” It’s really well written, like a real television show.

Who is the character you’re voicing and how does she fit into the world of Tron?

CHRIQUI: She is Page, who is basically the female lead that gets involved with Elijah Wood’s character, Beck, and works at the facility. We just get to know her and we get the sense that she will become involved. She’s also kick-ass. She really is tough as nails. It’s great. She’s a total bad-ass.

What was the experience of working on the upcoming Showtime series The Borgias like?

CHRIQUI: It was beautiful. It was in Budapest. It was really awesome for me. It was a really new experience for me. I had never done a period piece. The costumes were insane. I got to play a really wonderful character. I got to play the Duchess of Naples and, in a political move, she becomes Borgia-fied. She marries into the Borgia family. She marries the youngest Borgia, who’s 12 years old. It’s a crazy dynasty. It’s unbelievable, but it was really fun.

With this next season being the last season of Entourage, are there things that you’d really like to see Sloan get to do before the show is done?

CHRIQUI: The list is endless. I have had a blast working on Entourage. It’s the guy’s show, but I have had amazing moments on the show. You could do the same show with the women on the show and explore their characters. I’d love to know more about who Sloan is and who here dad is and how she’s been raised in this business. There would be stories for days. Having said that, though, I do think that the last season will be full of really good surprises.

2011 Razzie Awards lol

The voting members of The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation sifted through all the crappy movies of 2010 and picked the bottom of the barrel to single out.

In a year where Hollywood saw declining attendance numbers, perhaps the Razzies will serve as a wake-up call to studio execs to ease up on remakes, reboots, awful sequels or gratuitous usage of 3D. The number of films that exploited the gimmicky technology was so high, the Razzies created a special category for 2010 specifically for 3D movies.

Leading the packing with 9 nominations a-piece, were repeat offender M. Night Shyamalan and his badly-reviewed “The Last Airbender” and the third installment of the Twilight Saga, “Eclipse”. Other notable movies receiving the dishonor were the much maligned ” Sex and the City 2″ and pretty much anything that starred Jennifer Aniston. Universal Steps Up For Paul Paul Greengrass to Direct Martin Luther King Drama 'Memphis'

Universal Pictures will make Memphis, the drama about the assassination of Martin Luther King written and directed by Paul Greengrass. The picture is being produced by Scott Rudin, the Oscar-nominated producer of Best Picture candidates The Social Network and True Grit. Production on the film is slated to begin in June. It reunites the studio with Greengrass, who last made The Green Zone for Uni and who withdrew from making a fourth installment of The Bourne Identity. Even though that last picture came in at a high budget and didn't succeed at the box office, Greengrass turned in two hit Bourne sequels and the Oscar-nominated United 93.

Memphis steps in front of several pictures that were being mobilized about Dr. King. There is a Ronald Harwood-scripted DreamWorks project that has the backing of King's heirs, and Selma, an indie that Lee Daniels was working on with funding from The Weinstein Company (that project seems to have stalled completely), and Harpo's Oprah Winfrey and Kate Forte have an HBO deal for America: In the King Years, a 7-hour miniseries based on the seminal Taylor Branch book series, being adapted by Robert Schenkkan

9 Hottest Young & Black Stars

After a decade in which more black actors won Academy Awards than in the past seventy years combined, 2011 represents a setback: the Oscars failed to nominate a single black artist, and Vanity Fair’s influential “Young Hollywood” cover featured a single black performer. These nine-under-30 might not all be household names yet, but we think they represent the next generation of Anthony Mackies, Zoe Saldanas, and Will Smiths (literally).

-Gabourey Sidibe:

Lionsgate Sidibe’s Academy-Award nomination for her debut performance in “Precious” sends her to the top our list. She may be 27, but Sidibe’s making a name for herself playing teens on the big screen (she co-stars opposite Zoe Kravitz in the upcoming indie drama “Yelling to the Sky,” which premieres at the Berlin Film Fest this month) and on premium cable with the always-amazing Laura Linney and Idris Elba — on Showtime’s “The Big C.”

If an Oscar nod, film-festival fodder and high-profile cable series don’t make her instantly recognizable, appearing in Brett Ratner’s ensemble comedy “Tower Heist” will. She’s already made us cry, so making us laugh with co-stars Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy and Matthew Broderick (she’s already hosted “SNL”) makes her precious, indeed.

-Jaden Smith:

Columbia Sometimes acting talent can be inherited — as Michael Douglas, Jeff Bridges, and Gwyneth Paltrow can attest. So it’s no surprise that Will and Jada’s offspring are following in their footsteps. Jaden, 12, was a natural charmer in last year’s “The Karate Kid” reboot, holding his own both with impressive acting chops and karate chops.

Little sister Willow is reportedly headed to star in an “Annie” remake (produced her very own Daddy Warbucks), and both are set to play the protagonist sibs in the fantasy adventure “Amulet,” based on a popular children’s graphic novel. It seems Smiths will be dominating the summer box office for decades to come.

-Keke Palmer:

The Weinstein Company Tweens know this 17-year-old beauty as the titular fashion exec in the hit Nickelodeon show “True Jackson, VP,” but she broke out five years ago as the girl who stole our hearts in the feel-good weepie “Akeelah and the Bee.”

Palmer, who has already appeared in 11 movies, will next play Queen Latifah’s daughter in “Joyful Noise,” a church-choir comedy also starring Dolly Parton. Two larger-than-life singer-turned-actresses sharing the screen already make this a must-see; hearing Palmer belting with the divas is icing on the cake.

-Donald Glover:

Lionsgate Comedy writer, sitcom regular, Twitter aficionado, hipster fashionista — Glover is a man of many talents. After making the leap from “30 Rock” scribe to “Community” star, fan-casting nearly won Glover auditions as Spiderman and Superman; although he didn’t get the parts, the hype made Glover a social-media star.

Glover’s next project is reportedly a role in Jason Segel’s much-anticipated “Muppets” movie (produced by Judd Apatow), due out this November. If that’s not proof of his popularity, he’s currently nominated for the “On the Brink” NewNowNext Award, the only black actor competing with fellow pretty young things like Andrew Garfield, Darren Criss, and Nicholas Hoult.

-Zoe Kravitz:

Focus Another showbiz offspring, Kravitz (daughter of Lenny and former “Cosby” kid Lisa Bonet) has been appearing in movies since 2007′s comedy “No Reservations.”

After making her way through the indies “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” “Birds of America,” and the upcoming “Yelling to the Sky,” the 22-year-old stunner will star in her first big-budget popcorn flick as a member of the “X-Men: First Class.” Kravitz plays the winged mutant Tempest. She’s also slated to appear in the reboot of another franchise, the classic post-apocalyptic Aussie thriller, “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

-Tessa Thompson:

Lionsgate Thompson shines as the youngest cast member in Tyler Perry’s emotional adaptation “For Colored Girls,” holding her own opposite a terrific ensemble of award-winning actresses, like Phylicia Rashad, Whoopi Goldberg, Kimberly Elise, Loretta Devine and Thandie Newton.

A primetime regular since 2006, (“Veronica Mars,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Heroes”) Thompson continues to impress with her stand-out character work. She’ll grace the screen in at least three films in 2011, including the pregnancy drama “South Dakota,” and the sci-fi thriller “Red & Blue Marbles.” After her heartbreaking performance in “For Colored Girls,” she’s ready for a leading role.

-Brandon T. Jackson:

Warner Bros. If a script calls for a funny, young black guy, chances are Jackson will be up for the part. He’s been the comic-relief sidekick in more than 20 movies already, most memorably in “Tropic Thunder,” “Tooth Fairy,” and last year’s “Lottery Ticket” and “Percy Jackson.”

Next up, the 26-year-old plays Martin Lawrence’s kid in the cross-dressing comedy “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son,” (in theaters this Friday) and “A Talent For Trouble,” an indie comedy due out later this year.

-Katerina Graham:

CW Google her name, and you’ll discover she already has a cult following (including thousands of fanfics) for her supporting role as Bonnie Bennett, a beautiful young witch in The CW’s hit supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries.”

But the Swiss-born, half-Liberian model-turned-actress is quickly breaking into big-screen roles, popping up in the thriller “The Roommate” (now in theaters), “Boogie Town,” the upcoming hip-hop reboot of “West Side Story, and Cedric the Entertainer’s directorial debut, “Chicago Pulaski Jones.”

-Evan Ross:

City Lights Primetime soap fans know him from the current season of “90210,” but Ross and his smoldering eyes have been around since 2006, when he debuted in the urban coming-of-age drama “ATL.”
He’s yet to hit it big, but he’s appeared in more than 15 movies and shows.
With his inherited good looks from his mom, Motown diva Diana Ross, a nuanced acting style, and at least six more movies on the horizon — including the teen drama “96 Minutes” and “Macbett,” a Caribbean remake of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” — we have faith that 2011 will be good to Ross.

-Kali Hawk:

Universal After her scene-stealing performance as Faizon Love’s much-younger girlfriend in 2009′s “Couples Retreat,” Hawk — who previously appeared in Spike Lee’s short Maria Carey-spoof “Lovers & Haters” and a few straight-to-DVD projects — played P. Diddy’s assistant in “Get Him to the Greek,” initiating her in the world of Judd Apatow-produced comedies.

For 2011, Hawk’s leading-lady looks and comedy skills scored her a role in Craig Robinson and Kerri Washington’s family laughter “We the Peeples,” the ensemble drama “Answers to Nothing” with Dane Cook and Elizabeth Mitchell, and the latest buzzed-about Apatow production, “Bridesmaids,” starring Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph.
